Tuts Index Part2

Base : open an image of your choice, and resize it to around 200-300 pixels.

Choose a picture in which the subject is central, because this is what we're going to draw in the spotlight.
If you have nothing handy, you can find some in my photos. If you especially want some flowers, go to "Jardin des plantes" section :) .

Ctrl+C and Ctrl+L to copy and paste as new layer.
Highlight the background layer and go to "Effects" -> "Artistic effect" -> "Topography" and apply these settings

Now highlight the duplicated layer. Choose the freehand selection tool with these settings.

Define a freehand selection around the central subject as close as possible. Don't be afraid if you are not an expert hand, because the feather will correct your trembling hand :)

Go to "Selections" -> "Invert".

Press "Delete" key two or three times.

Deselect by right clicking. Copy / Paste the "tubed" subject twice and put the blend mode as in the picture.

Merge visible.

Select the whole image with Ctrl+A.
Go to "Selections" -> "Modify" -> "Contract".
Contract by 2 pixels.

Go to "Selection" -> "Invert".
Add a new layer.
Select the flood fill tool.
Now the tutorial will fork : I will first explain the "Quick Way To Do", then the "Sure Way To Do" :)
